Education is Catching our Headline
In October this year, we read with interest that the Scottish Qualification Authority were at last making reference to the Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board work begun more than four years ago.
Without waiting for the outcome of meetings, we set to work on running an opening course for twelve pipers to take part in Levels 1, 2 & 3 of these comparatively new certificates.
We were assisted in our efforts by Perth and Kinross Council who supplied the venue and the pupils.
The first full examinations were held on Saturday 5th December at Breadalbane Academy, Aberfeldy, and saw all of the students successfully gaining their various chosen levels.
This course will be repeated possibly in June 2010 at a venue still to be set, but I am sure that those who attended the first course will be returning the upgrade their early success, and will no doubt be joined by others.
Perhaps an examination of our "Education" page will provide much more information.
Our gratitude also goes to Mr James Campbell, the R. S. P. B. A's Qualifications Coordinator, who attended as our examiner, and our congratulations go to the twelve highly successful students!!!

This site is the news vehicle of The Practical Pipers Society, based in Carnoustie, Scotland.
During the time that the site has been running, it has become a venue of interest for Pipers and Drummers not only from around the Dundee, Perth and Angus area, but from much farther afield. We now have input from Canada, Australia and more recently, Hong Kong.
For this reason I have included photos of people, bands, old and new from around the Dundee, Perth and Angus area, and have even been able to link in with locals who have travelled far and wide.
If you can help to identify people and place, simply sit down and have a go. You will find your ammunition in the "Archives and Photos".
PLEASE CHECK OUT THE INDEX OF BANDS IN THE SAME AREA, AS THERE ARE 48 (Yes .. Forty-eight) BANDS ALL NEEDING TO HAVE THEIR DETAILS MADE KNOWN ! ! ! !
