Alastair Macdonald Robertson
This guy is bound to have a really interesting story and no matter how much we try to nail him down, he still keeps it to himself. He is well traveled with his Pipes and is the most interesting of guys, knows many good players and is well known by them. He was a teacher in Arbroath, when he became a member (and still is). Took early retirement (he says he escaped) and settled with Jean in East Kilbride where he encourages the local Band.
For his 60th birthday, Gordon Rogers (another member) was commissioned to compose a tune for Alastair. The one he composed was his first big 2/4 competition march, but Gordon put a little twist in the tail.
At the end of every part, a hibibo was included. This really Bugged Alistair as he had always managed to avoid learning how to play them.
Every year, Alastair returns for Championship Day and is in charge of the Championship Piobaireachd. It must also be said that he "holds court" all day with a steady stream of visitors to see -Alastair-. If you lose him during the day, you only need to follow the reek, to find him contemplating his tobacco pipe ootside.
