Back in the early years of The Practical Pipers the group met on a regular basis in the hall at The Muroes.
A young lad who lived just up he road took an interest and decided to do something about learning to play the pipes.
He became a competing piper in the juvenle grades and eventuall, around 1990, he won the MOD at Aberfeldy. Eventually work got in he way.
Gordon studied hard and joined the merchant navy where he sailed the South Atlantic in search of adventure.
One cargo he did not appreciate was the regular run carrying best quality guano.(penguin crap).
Years down the line and I find that Gordon is a married man with family, but no longer sailing the waves. He has taken up dry stane dyking in easten Scotland and has established his own business..
Piping has not been forgotten though. Gordon is a member of the Alyth and District Pipe Band and my picture shows him tuning up in 2010 at Markinch, Fife.
