Alyth and District Pipe Band

A few years ago, there was a short lived revival of the band which appeared to consist of ex Forfar Burgh members
under the leadership of the late Pipe Major Claude Miller, seen here on the right.

Just a wee update on the 'band' is that they have now acquired Kilts and will be playing on Saturday September 2nd for Braemar Day at Blairgowrie. It is a huge achievement and I personally will have a tear in my eye to see them finally turn out. We now have about 23 playing members and a lot more learning the chanter and drums moving through the ranks!
The band are also taking part in a concert with the Perthshire Brass Band for the Alfred Anderson Memorial Day on Sunday 1st October 2006 at the Alyth Town Hall at 7pm. This concert is 'free' with donations at the door. The whole day will be dedicated to 'Alfred Anderson' and the unveiling of a 'bust' in his memory(oldest man, who recently passed away) ( I have been told on good authority that royalty will be attending!!??? the day time event although this has not been confirmed))
I hope that you find

Bang up to date now, with a photo taken on Saturday 2nd September 2006, in the Wellmeadow, Blairgowrie
This was the Braemar day Parade and also the first time the band had paraded with their new Black Stewart kilts.
All the best the all members, and power to Pipe Major Charlie Munro (far left).
